Goaltender Antero Niittymaki Assigned to Worcester, Defenseman Jason Demers Place on IR
SAN JOSE – San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Tyson Sexsmith from the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.
Sexsmith, who was named to the 2012 AHL All-Star Team, is fifth in the AHL in goals-against average (2.15), ninth in save percentage at .925.
Originally drafted by the Sharks in the third round (91st overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Sexsmith was a member of Vancouver’s (WHL) Memorial Cup winning squad in 2007, leading all WHL playoff goaltenders in goals-against average and shutouts.
In other roster moves, goaltender Antero Niittymaki has been assigned to Worcester. In addition, defenseman Jason Demers has been placed on injured reserve. He is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
