09-10 Thunder Rookie of the Year, Oilers goaltending prospect reassigned from AHL teams

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League, announced center Chris D’Alvise (DOWL-veez) has been reassigned to the Thunder from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League and Edmonton has reassigned rookie goaltender Olivier Roy (WAH, Oh-LIV-ee-yay) to the Thunder from the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

D’Alvise and Roy are scheduled to return to the Thunder lineup tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. (1280 KWSX/StocktonThunder.com) in a game at Stockton Arena against the Alaska Aces.

D’Alvise, 26, signed an AHL contract with Springfield, an affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, on Jan. 14, 2011. The Thunder retained his ECHL contract rights via a Qualifying Offer extended on July 2.

He has scored six points (2g-4a) in seven ECHL games and has suited up in three AHL games for the Falcons this season. D’Alvise scored 11 goals and collected 23 points (11g-12a) in 43 AHL games with Springfield in 2010-11.

The 5-foot-11 and 180 pound pivot ranks fourth on the Thunder all time scoring list with 90 points (46g-44a) in 87 career games. The native of Mississauga, Ontario ranked second on the team with 67 points (34g-33a) in 68 games and added nine points (6g-3a) in 13 playoff games, guiding the Thunder to the Conference Finals in 2009-10.

He was named Thunder “Rookie of the Year,” represented the Thunder and National Conference at the 2010 ECHL All-Star Game and led Stockton with 34 goals in 2009-10 which fell one shy of Ryan Huddy’s single season record.

Roy, 20, was selected as an ECHL “Golden Goalie” honoree (Mar. 3 vs. Alaska). He has appeared in 32 games with the Thunder this season, currently ranking third in the ECHL with a .927 save percentage, sixth with 1,000 saves and a 2.44 goals against average, in addition to a 12-15-5 record.

The 6-foot and 180 pound goaltender was selected by Edmonton in the fifth round (133rd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and has twice been named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week this season.

Roy was ranked as the second highest North American goaltender by the Central Scouting Bureau before the draft in 2009.

The 6-foot and 180 pound goaltender was a member of Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Hockey Championships and earned 14 shutouts, a record of 123-57-8, save percentage of .906, and goals-against-average of 2.77 in 200 career games with Cape Breton and Acadie-Bathurst of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
