Below are quotes from Stockton Thunder head coach Matt Thomas after the Thunder was defeated by the San Francisco Bulls, 4-1 at the Cow Palace on Friday.

Re: On the game

“I thought both teams played a slow moving game. Really it was whoever scored that second goal would capture that momentum and they did. We weren’t very good, but I still thought we had a chance to get we had a chance to win the game going into the third. We really didn’t have the jump that we normally had.”

Re: Goaltending

“[Thomas Heemskerk] was real good. I don’t think we really made him work, but he was good. Both goalies were good and having to play based on their team. Heemer might have been the key difference.”

Re: Defense

“Our D weren’t very good, but there’s no excuse for them not being in the game and a couple of them weren’t even in the game at times. You play a game on the weekend with five defensive men and it can actually be beneficial because it gets them into the game a lot quicker.”

Re: Going forward

“When you play a team as much as we are going to play San Francisco and Bakersfield, our division rivals, looking at the videos are really important and they say a lot. We had a pretty solid game plan going into the game and we didn’t execute it. I don’t think it’s a game that I can overanalyze, but it should be motivational for us. They’re a team that hadn’t been winning a lot and we were looking for a win and we let them have it and we were the exact opposite. At some point our bubble was going to burst. But they played hard and they played at the right moments.”
