It’s Easy Being Green
Two signature promotional games combine hockey with eco-friendly awareness
STOCKTON, Calif. –
STOCKTON, Calif. –The Stockton Thunder (@StocktonThunder), a two-time recipient of the ECHL “Award of Excellence,” announced the return of Thunder’s “Easy Being Green” for two games on Mar. 14-15 against the Utah Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m.
The event, held in conjunction with the Stockton Chamber of Commerce’s “Green Team San Joaquin,” unites hockey and community involvement with an eco-friendly campaign for both games. Stockton Arena’s concourse will take a green theme with transformation into a “Green Fair” which invites fans in attendance to visit booths throughout the arena.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for both games.
The booths will be hosted by local environmentally friendly organizations with the goal of educating attendees on environmental issues and eco-friendly products.
“Easy Being Green is a great event for the community because they can learn the latest ways to be ‘green’,” said Melissa Piffero, Thunder manager of marketing and business development. “At the Thunder we like to help the community and do our part by being more environmentally friendly.”
The event will raise funds, including $2 dollars from every ticket sold to give to the Green Award Winner for donation to the charity of their choice. The Easy Being Green Award recipient is selected by the Thunder in conjunction with the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce and Green Team San Joaquin.
Giveaways from the event, to be announced, will feature a “green” or eco-friendly theme and are free to select fans in attendance. Fans are encouraged to check in for updates here first.
The event has drawn nearly 24,000 fans to Stockton Arena over the last two seasons.
Entering the season as the defending Western Conference champion, the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the eighth consecutive season in 2012-13.
