Thunder Releases Goaltender Clarke
Move cuts preseason roster down to 24
Stockton, Calif.– The Stockton Thunder (@StocktonThunder), proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s New York Islanders and AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, has announced that goaltender Dan Clarke has been released from his contract.
The 25-year-old out of Belleville, Ontario did not appear in either of the Thunder’s two preseason games, but did get the start for Team Black in the inaugural “Black & White Intra-Squad Game”, giving up just one goal in 25 minutes of play to help backstop his side to a 5-2 win.
The former Quinnipiac University netminder played four years for the Bobcats, posting a career-best record of 15-15-2 in his sophomore year. Clarke spent last season splitting time between the Mississippi Surge (SPHL) and the Tulsa Oilers (CHL).
With Clarke’s release, the Thunder now has 24 players on its preseason roster.
Thunder fans have one more chance to interact with the team before the home opener. Head Coach Rich Kromm will be available for the first “Chalk Talk” session of the year on October 16th from 6-8 PM at Stockton Arena. There coach Kromm will announce the Thunder’s 2013-14 captain and assistant captains.
The regular season kicks off Saturday, October 19th against the Colorado Eagles where the Thunder will raise the 2013 Western Conference Championship banner to the rafters. Game time is set for 7:30 PM. Tickets are available through the box office or online at TicketMaster.com. Fans can also purchase Mini-Plans that start as low as $14.50 per month by calling the Thunder front office at 209-373-1500.
