Now Hiring For The Stockton Thunder 2012-13 Season
Employees must be at least 16 years of age (under 18 must provide work permit) and be available for a majority of game dates throughout the season. Games are scheduled mainly for nights and weekends through March with playoff games extending the season through April and potentially beyond.
Join the Stockton Thunder Street Team
The Thunder is looking for dependable and enthusiastic fans to join our “Street Team.” Street Team members are needed to get the word out about this upcoming hockey season by distributing promotional materials (pocket schedules, posters, etc.) to local businesses.

Current Internships Available:
Broadcasting Department Internship (non-paid)
Job Summary:
The focus of this program is to provide a local student, who desires a career in broadcasting with an opportunity to learn and experience the business side of sports and media through “hands-on” participation.
The broadcasting internship is an independent study that requires the student to be disciplined to complete assignments on time with minimal supervision. The internship provides students the opportunity to learn how a professional hockey team’s broadcasting department executes game night activities.
The intern must be available for all home games during their internship, including playoff games. Responsibilities will include assistance with production of Thunder video and audio web content, on-air assistance with radio broadcasts, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Hockey and broadcast background strongly recommended
- Basic knowledge of audio and/or video editing programs
- Able to work under pressure, deadline-oriented situations
- Team player
- Work independently to complete assignments
- Must be a high school senior or have completed high school to apply
- College credit offered

Office Hours Media Relations and Broadcasting Department Internship (non-paid)
Job Summary:
The focus of this program is to provide a local student, who desires a career in Sports Information or Media Relations, with an opportunity to learn and experience the business side of sports and media through “hands-on” participation. Requires the student to be disciplined to complete assignments on time with minimal supervision. The internship provides students the opportunity to learn how a professional hockey team’s media relations department executes activities on a day-to-day basis. The intern must be available for normal office hours – generally 10-15 hours per week is suggested.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist with media publications, game notes, and website content for StocktonThunder.com
- Assist with the coordination of interview requests
- Opportunities available in Broadcasting which include assisting with on-air duties related to podcast content on StocktonThunder.com game-day interviews, pre-game and post-game segments heard on the Stockton Thunder Broadcast Network
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Knowledge of hockey recommended
- Team player
- Work independently to complete assignments
- Experience or aptitude in sportswriting recommended
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with strong attention to detail

Sales Intern (non-paid)
Job Summary:
The Sales Intern is responsible for assisting the Ticket Sales Department – Suites, Club, Groups and Season Ticket Holder seating- with the execution of projects, game-night tasks and day-to-day needs. Will assist and provide support to the Sales Department.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist Personal Tickets Representatives in all areas Special projects designated by the Vice President of Sales
- Data Entry
- Maintenance and updating of the database management program
- Lead generation and input
- Various game night duties
- Designing of flyers/posters for sales initiatives
- Overseeing newsletter and off-season mailings
- Various phone duties
- Assist other departments as needed
Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:

Corporate Sales Intern (non-paid)
Job Summary:
Intern to provide marketing support to Corporate Sales and Business Development staff in the creation of sales tools to support sponsorship sales efforts.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist with creating and preparing sales presentations and contracts
- Update and maintain collateral tracking system for sponsor programs and sponsor recap books
- Assist with game-night sponsor hospitality events and promotions and other game night sponsor needs
- Assist with sponsor communication regarding advertising materials artwork specifications and logos
- Assist and monitor execution of in-arena sponsored elements
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Willingness to assist and approach sponsors
- Accurate recording of transactions

Corporate Partnership Intern (non-paid)
Job Summary:
The Corporate Services Intern is responsible for assisting the Corporate Services Department with fulfillment all marketing and promotional elements as they relate to specified corporate partnerships..
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Create the “Proof of Performance Folders” for all sponsors
- Consult and adhere to the team’s “Master Inventory Document” for information on sponsored items and inventory
- Gather information and put together all sponsor recaps
- Responsible for getting pictures of in-game promotions, giveaways, and sponsored inventory for the POP folders
- Work with the Game Operation Manager to ensure all sponsored events are recognized and included in the POP folders
- Report to the Director of Marketing
Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Able to use Illustrator, PhotoShop, Publisher and other Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Be creative and have some graphic design experience
- Able to work independently
- Must be well organized and flexible to meet time, priority and workload demands

Community Relations Intern (non-paid)
Job Summary:
The Community Relations intern will assist the Stockton Thunder Community Relations department with various community outreach initiatives and provide Regular day-of-game assistance including managing the various booths associated with community programs and other activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Help fulfill charitable donation requests
- Assist with team and mascot appearances for charities, schools, hospitals, and other organizations
- Create and assist with promotional ideas and events for current and potential Community Relations strategies and sponsors.
- Participate on game night assisting with promotions and Community Relations Activities and staffing the “Community Corner table”
- Attend and contribute to special events.
- Manage several team related databases including those related to donations, programs, and events
- Assist with the processing and responding to local charity requests.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Must be able to work most game days and major team events
- Current enrollment in a University or College degree/diploma in a sports, public relations or communications related field preferred but not necessary
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Applicants must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and perform some manual labor as an essential function of the position. May be required to perform at appearances as mascot.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and other Microsoft Office Suite programs
