Bio:Ryan Mougenel was named Thunder assistant coach on December 30, 2008, his second position within the coaching ranks after serving the Fresno Falcons for three seasons-plus as an assistant coach for Matt Thomas' staff. Mougenel assists in handling the Thunder power-play and penalty-kill units and helps coordinate the team's free-agent recruiting efforts and Hockey Operations organizational structure.
Mougenel previously helped guide the Falcons to three consecutive playoff berths, including the club's first Pacific Division title, 100-point season and berth in the National Conference Finals in 2005-06. Prior to being named Assistant Coach for the 2005-06 season, Mougenel played professionally for six seasons, including a total of 115 games in the International and American Hockey leagues, and a stint with Team Canada during the 1999-00 campaign. He retired as a player following the 2002-03 season, during which he was part of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies Kelly Cup Championship squad.
Along with NHL veterans Wayne and Keith Primeau, Mougenel is owner and operator of Durham Hockey Institute, a hockey school in the Toronto area. He is also a part owner of the Durham Fury, a member of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL).
